FISHING
I haven’t had feedback from anybody heading wide this week so no updates there. Most of the talk has been about the snapper fishing which has been excellent. Almost everybody has been able to catch their limit (or self-imposed limit) and most places seem to be okay. I’ve heard really good reports from around the Mercury Islands, the Twins, outside Centre Island, the river mouth and even a couple of spots up the river (in other words, pretty much anywhere). The fish are also in very good condition heading into the cooler months.
SNAPPER TOURNAMENT
Set aside Saturday 4th June (Queen’s birthday weekend) for our snapper tournament. There are a lot of snapper in our local waters at present so it’s a great time to hold this contest. It’s a cash in – cash out tournament with all entry money returned as cash prizes. Entry is on $20 per person and there is an optional boat sweepstake. Entry forms are on the bar or on the website here
CONGRATULATIONS
Just a follow up from our recent Junior Tournament, congratulations to Hunter Nicholson for gaining three new club records! Two for snapper (7.38kg on 6kg line and 1.08kg on 1 kg line). All caught on their family boat Outahere. Well done Hunter.

Please use the courtesy van on club nights if you are having a few drinks. If you do use the van, remember that we are asking for a gold coin donation to cover some of the costs for the vehicle. Thanks to those members that volunteer to drive it from time to time, we appreciate your support.
