Fishing
There have been quite a few boats out on the water in the last week or so and reports are very positive. It’s worth noting the size of snapper being caught with some people catching PB’s and all the fish are in excellent condition. Most reports were from people fishing around all of the Mercury Islands, taking into account the wind and tide. Nothing heard about anybody heading wide this week.
Winter Tuna Tournament
This tournament has finished now and prizegiving will be this Saturday (3rd) starting at 6.30pm. If you didn’t catch a winning fish, there will also be drawn spot prizes but you can only win those if you are here when they are drawn.
Rugby
The All Blacks will seek their revenge over Argentina on Saturday with a 7.05pm kick off, we’ll be showing the game live, immediately after the prizegiving for the Winter Tuna Tournament.
Fathers Day
We’re having a $15 roast night on Sunday (4th) for Fathers Day from 5.30pm. It will be a choice of beef or pork (until one runs out) and there will be a small dessert while stocks last. If you don’t want to cook or do the dishes, come down for an enjoyable meal and grab something to drink while you’re here.
AGM & Prizegiving
Just a reminder, the Clubs premier event of the year will be on Saturday 10th September with the AGM starting at 5pm. The AGM doesn’t usually take very long, so after a bit of time for refreshments (President’s shout) we’ll be straight into the prizegiving. We remind anyone hoping to win the Whitianga Diesel/Coastline Excavations tagging club $5000 cash – you must be present in order to be able to claim this.
Subscriptions
Annual subs are due now and if not paid by September 20th, you will incur a $20 late penalty fee. We don’t want to have to charge any fees, we’d prefer you just pay your subs before then. It’s only a few weeks away so please look into it if you haven’t already paid these.
Catching Squid
On the 20th September at 6pm, Longshore Marine will be holding an instore Squid Seminar with Black Magic Tackle’s Jeremy Troup. Come along and learn a thing or two, spot prizes on the night and some instore specials. See you there
