No Varta Cup this year but we had by far the most teams register points of any club in the country.

Our 14 first placings are the most we have ever achieved.

We were dominant in the billfish section as can be seen from the following placings.

NZ Champion Blue Marlin Angler

1st          Jonathan Frankham        (Tenacious)

2nd          Cam Kennedy                    (Fyssher)

3rd =       Kathy Sieling                      (Sambuca)

NZ Champion Stripled Marlin Angler

1st           Jason Sherriff                    (Pearl Miner)

2nd          Bryce Healey                     (Mad Max)

3rd         Chloe Roberts                   (Mile Zero)

4th =       Tony Croft                         (Mad Max)

               Brent Rogers                     (True Lies)

Other members to gain first placings were:

Kathy Sieling (Blue Marlin – T&R),  Cam Kennedy (Blue Marlin – 37kg),  Tony Croft (Shark-37kg)

Shane McBarron (Spearfish), Chris Sadler (Mahimahi), Phil Wackrow (Kingfish), Ollie Carruthers (Snapper) and Thomas Joblin (Junior Snapper) and “Mad Max”.

The top team from Mercury Bay was “Tenacious” followed by “Fyssher” and “Mad Max”
