FF 28 Sept
There’s still some good fishing out there and a good weather forecast for the weekend should see the boat trailer carpark get a good workout. There hasn’t been a lot of joy for people fishing around the river mouth but further out into the bay people are picking up plenty of snapper. Other popular spots for snapper are the northern end of Great Mercury Island, between Otama & Great Mercury and around Korapuki. If you’re just looking for a feed, long lines are particularly effective too. It’s definitely worth taking a diver with you as the scallops are also in great condition. With the mackies out in the bay there is no shortage of kingfish and kahawai around either. I’m pretty sure people will take advantage of the good conditions and head wide for a bottom fish and if the photos I saw from the last week or so are anything to go by; they’ll no doubt come home with plenty of food too.
