FISHING

There hasn’t been a lot of change since last week.   There seems to be plenty of snapper out there with some really good ones amongst them.  I’ve heard good reports from around most of the islands but I had someone tell me they had been doing exceptionally well in the 30 – 40m in the Puddle too.  Kingies are becoming more difficult to find but there are big schools of kahawai around if you want to look for them  They’re still catching mackerel in the bay although if you’re first out there in the morning you may have to look around a bit.

TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE

At its recent meeting, the committee established that we need suitably skilled people to fill position of Kids Tournament convenor – a one day event held on the wharf just after Christmas, Trailer Boat Tournament convenor – a high profile tournament where it may be advantageous to assemble a small group of helpers, and we also need a couple more weighmasters.  Full training and support will be given to the people selected to do these tasks, we just need people that can devote some time when needed.

SUBSCRIPTION NOTICES

Subs notices are in the process of being sent out now.  Subs are due by the beginning of the financial year on July 1st and subs unpaid after 20th September will incur a $20 late payment fee.  If you go fishing and want your fish recognized from July 1st you need to have paid your subs before you go fishing (i.e. for records, pins, trophies).

MID WINTER CHRISTMAS DINNER

Next Wednesday our roast night will be Christmas theme with glazed ham, seasoned chickens and a small dessert for the early birds.  Price will still be $12, we look forward to seeing you here.

FISHING I’m still getting lots of excellent reports about the fishing out of Whitianga.  There are plenty of bait fish around so you can have the nice fresh baits that big fish love.  The common message is that many of the snapper are really big and I’ve heard from a...
