FISHING
I had a few people get back to me late last weekend about their fishing trips.  Pretty much all positive news, with everyone coming home with some fish.  Mainly targeting snapper and the guys I spoke to had smaller boats so most of the fishing was done around the edges of the bay – from Round Island up to the Whau Whau and off Lonely Bay.  Also had someone do very well on the Kuaotunu Reef.  A couple of others that were put off by the silty water went a bit further and found success off Korapuki and Stanley Islands.  In the middle of winter the amount of feedback I get can be very minimal even though we know there are still plenty of fish being caught.  If you’ve been out on the water, please let me know how you get on….good or bad.  My email address is alan@mbgfc.co.nz

TROPHIES
Now that we’ve started a new fishing season it is time to get all our trophies back to the club so we can prepare them for this year’s prizegiving at the end of September.   If you were clever enough to win a trophy last year, please make arrangements to get them back to the club asap so we can assess them tidy up what we can and get them engraved with the new trophy winners names.

STAFF
Michelle (behind the bar) is unfortunately leaving us and last night was her last night here (although she has offered to help out if needed).  Michelle has been studying feverishly while she has been working here and has been fortunate enough to find employment in her chosen field.  Whilst we are sorry to see Michelle go, we wish her every success in her new role.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP
In order to comply with the laws on liquor sale and consumption, we can only serve alcohol to members, their guests or visitors from other clubs affiliated to the NZSFC.  Members can sign in as many guests as they wish but they are responsible for their guests at all times.  Guests being signed in, isn’t a free membership.  As a guide, if an individual is going to be signed in more than three times in a year, we would expect them to be signed up members.  This wouldn’t apply for friends or family who may be staying in town for 2 or 3 weeks and want to come in while they are in Whitianga.

FISHINGOnce again I haven’t received much feedback this week which is probably a reflection of how much fishing is going on.  The reports I did get were somewhat conflicting with a couple of crews struggling to get amongst the snapper even though they...

FISHING I haven’t heard a lot from people this week so far. What news I have heard has been pretty positive with plenty of snapper being caught. Out around the Mercury Islands has been popular but I don’t know how they’ve got on closer in around the bay this week....

FISHING There hasn’t been a lot of change since last week.   There seems to be plenty of snapper out there with some really good ones amongst them.  I’ve heard good reports from around most of the islands but I had someone tell me they had been doing exceptionally...
