Most of the fishing recently has been targeting snapper and they’ve had some good success. There have been a lot of people trying artificial lures such as soft baits, slow jigs and sliders which have been working well. There were one or two crews heading out for a ‘puka’ fish but I haven’t yet heard how they got on although there are reports of some very nice blue water out there.
Popular spots for snapper and gurnard have been out the back of Centre Island and in the Puddle but most rocks and reefs are likely to be holding snapper.
